Becky Crow

Becky’s work has always had a strongly illustrative leaning. Designs develop from drawings; both observational and imagined, or through a desire to express concepts and ideas around connectedness, relationships, and our place in the world. There are elements of narrative captured in silver and transformed into miniature scenes telling out across the surface of a brooch or hanging as a pendant.. Her hope is that people recognise part of their own story hidden within her jewellery. Becky works with sheet silver and copper with gold for detailing. The metal is pierced out, she then apply textures or patterns to the surface using a rolling mill and templates. These components are then layered together and soldered. The pieces are finished with a mixture of matt, oxidised and polished surfaces to add depth and tone. Becky is based at the Rosehill workshop in Brighton where she has been working since graduating in 1999.
